Workplace questions can become identifying when they contain names, shifts, incidents, locations, or unusual details.
Email-based forms
The Contact, Ask a Veteran, and Request Updates pages prepare an email in the visitor’s own mail application. The website does not submit, transmit, or store the typed form contents. The email provider used by the visitor and the mailbox at staffroom@chipsandtruths.com process the message after the visitor chooses to send it.
An Ask a Veteran sender’s email address is visible to the editorial team even when the question is later published without identifying details. Contributors should remove property names, player identities, coworker names, security procedures, active investigations, and records belonging to another person.
Measurement hooks
The source contains provider-neutral event hooks for page interactions, but no external analytics provider is loaded by default. Metric payloads are restricted to an allowlisted event name, the current path, locale, and an optional predefined machine label. Search terms, visible link text, form values, salary or contract figures, employer names, health information, immigration details, email addresses, and other typed content are not emitted. Any future analytics provider must be documented here before activation and must not use cross-site advertising identifiers, fingerprinting, or session replay.
Career journey progress
The Career Journeys system stores progress in the current browser using local storage. The saved record contains a journey identifier, completed step identifiers, and the last journey step visited. Staffroom does not receive those selections, and the system does not ask for names, employers, health details, immigration status, or dispute information.
Progress does not automatically sync across devices. Clearing browser data, using private browsing, or changing browsers may remove it. Do not use journey checklists to record confidential employment information.
Personal career dashboard
The optional My Staffroom dashboard stores structured tool-result categories, predefined action identifiers, priority and completion status, and the existing journey records in this browser. Saving a tool result is explicit; tool inputs are not copied into the dashboard.
The dashboard does not provide a free-text note field and does not accept names, employer identities, contract text, uploaded files, incident descriptions, health information, immigration records, or bank details. The local-data page lets you inspect summary counts, export the browser record, clear one journey, clear the dashboard, or remove every Staffroom local-storage key.
Market shortlist and evidence status
The market system may store up to three public market identifiers and structured confirmation codes such as confirmed, partial, not confirmed, or not applicable. It may also retain a score band and critical-gap count. It does not store employer names, salary or relocation amounts, housing addresses, licence numbers, passport details, contract text, or free-text explanations.
