Escalate the exact known and uncertain amounts to the floor, and involve the cage or other authorised role only through the property’s procedure.

Define whether the error is count or denomination

A stack of twenty chips can be counted correctly but valued incorrectly if one denomination was mistaken for another. State whether the suspected problem is number of chips, denomination, conversion rate, or all three.

Freeze the next exchange

Do not begin another colour-up, buy-in, payout or change transaction on the same position until the suspected exchange is framed. New value movements can hide which stack belongs to which conversion.

If the player says they received too much

Preserve the value and thank them for raising it without making them responsible for fixing the rack. The authorised correction should restore the transaction without creating an informal side exchange.

Use colour differences carefully

Chip colours can vary by denomination, table, tournament, property or local design. This case is about verified denomination, not a universal color assumption. Read the value markings and follow property procedure.

If two denominations look similar under lighting

End with a verified conversion statement

Before restarting, be able to state the resolved equation: value received, value returned, any authorised correction, and the resulting rack effect. That simple statement is the cleanest proof that the exchange has been reconciled rather than merely balanced.
